We are pleased to announce our exciting new scheme
FreeTree!
We have joined forces with the renowned plant and seedsmen,
Dobies of Devon, to award a FreeTree every week of the year!
If you are a group, school or charity or feel that you have a imaginative idea for using a fruit tree and it's harvest
then write to us to enter our weekly competition for a FreeTree.
The idea that we like the most will be awarded the tree that week although you will not receive delivery until
the correct planting season which is generally from 1st December to end of March.
Dobies of Devon have been supplying top quality fruit trees as well as plants and seeds since 1880 so they know what
they are talking about! Dobies have always sold direct to their customers and you won’t find their products on sale
in shops. This means that they are able to offer many hard-to-find varieties at a reasonable price.
All of their seeds and plants are rigorously tested to ensure a high level of quality is maintained - and none of
their stock is genetically modified.
At Jam Jar Shop we hope that many of the older varieties can be re-established in gardens and land across the country - not
just apples and plums but quince, cherries, pears, walnuts, cobnuts, apricots and peaches. If a tree is not practical
then soft fruit bushes could be substituted - any of the currants, gooseberries, strawberries for instance.
So, get thinking, and tell us what type of tree you would like, and why.
How to apply . . .
You can apply by letter with a photo of where you would like the tree to
be planted, or email us at

Good luck!
