do you still need to sterilise theese jars before use

Yes, simply wash in hot soapy water, rinse and place in oven, temperature 110, for approximately 10 mins. Remove as required with tea towel.

Which size of wax tops do I need for these jars?

The 1lb Wax disc will fit this 16oz jar.
